A Somatic Approach to Performance

This class begins by exploring the structures of the body itself, physically & energetically, & then expands to include awareness of other bodies, & the space itself, through a number of improvisation proposals. We will research the question of how the self-exploratory, embodied practice of somatic work can be relevant to performance practice, finding strategies to share these states with an audience & integrate them into artistic work.
The term “find the most open question” emerged from a conversation on choreography with Emilyn Claid.
