Moving the World Inside & Around

a somatic approach to erotic bodywork

In parts of the classical Tantric tradition, physical union between humans is seen as a mirror of, or conduit to, transcendence and ultimately, a relationship to the divine. The presence we cultivate when we allow our erotic energy to circulate, rather than working it towards a particular goal, is quite unique and allows us to question other goal-oriented patterns as well (ahem, turbo-capitalism).

In my research of the past 15 years as a dancer, choreographer, and practitioner of erotic bodywork – while i reject the heteronormative binary aspect of many “Tantra” workshops – i have found that generating erotic energy between human beings can lead to a transformative and loving relationship with the rest of the world as well. This workshop looks at that liminal moment of transformation. We will use tools from dance, somatic work – for instance exploring the respiratory system or the skin – inspired by practices such as Body-Mind-Centering, and erotic bodywork inspired by the tantric tradition.

The workshop is intended to be registered for as a group of two or three people together, who are open to the idea of engaging in genital touch with each other for the erotic bodywork portion of the work (any and all genders and constellations welcome!). Other, less explicitly erotic exercises may be explored with other workshop participants as well. Of course, all boundaries that emerge during the workshop itself will be centered, encouraged, and respected. If You are intensely interested in participating, but don’t have a workshop partner or partners, get in touch with us, and we may be able to put people together.
