Happy Springtime, Dance Fans!
I hope this finds You all happy and well! Things around here have been somewhat less public over the past six months than in the past, due to PhD studies (reading, writing, colloquia, shooting footage – see photo above – getting fellowship renewed for another year – yay!), and of course other secret ventures like mentoring M.A. students, baking, taking kids to the dentist, etc., etc. It’s a full life. Stick around for more news regarding screenings of Pomegranate Songs beginning of next year!
Despite everything, there are a few events coming up in the next few months i’d like to share with You:
đ” Playing piano for ballet classes at Marameo Berlin from next week, for illuminating and elucidating teachers Yuri ShimaokaApril 20-22, and Nicolas RobillardApril 28-May 1. See You on the dancefloor!
And two summer offerings, one short and one long, both of which i am very, very excited about:
Saturday, July 11, one day only, Disco Cavallo’s Astou Maraszto & Caroline Ritter, and i, will offer an experimental workshop around consent and the more-than-human. Disco Cavallo’s work brings a consent-based approach to encounters with horses, and i am extremely curious to embark on our first collaboration and see what emerges in the space between. Learn more about Disco Cavallo and the workshop here (in German) and join us in Traismauer, Austria.
July 25-30, i am thrilled to be returning to the Touch & Play Festival, this time for the UK edition, at the beautiful Earth Spirit Retreat Centre near Glastonbury, Somerset. I will be offering a 4-day intensive on My Lovers, Human & More-Than-Human.Touch & Play is a unique gathering deeply rooted in dance & movement practices, that can also allow for sensuality, s*xuality, and more to emerge in the space. It will also be my first time facilitating in the UK in nearly 9 years, and i can’t wait. More info and registration here!
Recommendations department! If You happen to be in New York City, stop by Sunset Park’s branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, where MY MOM, Sara Gothelf Bloom, will be discussing her new novel, Just Enough to Start Over. Thursday April 30, 6pm!

Tell her i said hi!
Also feel free to drop me a line and let me know how YOU’RE doing!
Wishing You the serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and – most importantly – the wisdom to know the difference.
Sending love,
David B.
