Happy Spring, Dance Fans!
Apologies for the long silence. A succession of crises, personal, professional, political, came together, and a short retreat from pub(l)ic life was in order. However, apparently as a freelancer, i am also obligated to make everyone aware of upcoming events, or show up to the studio alone, so HERE THEY ARE, in chronological order!
If You enjoy dancing ballet and are feeling spontaneous and in Berlin, i will be playing piano for the enormously charmant Nicolas Robillard at Marameo this coming Wednesday and Thursday morning (April 2 & 3).
The weekend after, i return to motionlab cologne for a workshop on Dancing with the Ghosts, April 5 & 6. Still some places available, i believe, so register here.
Also in the coming months: a bunch of PhD-related conference stuff in Zurich and Linz (yes, i am also still working on becoming Dr. Bloom – like, and yet unlike, my father, the original Dr. Bloom).
In May, Tanzquartier in Vienna is publishing two editions of TQW Paper, one Body & Performance Practices and one Theory & Discourse edition. Both editions will feature short contributions by myself, and i also plan to stop by the launch May 27 at Tanzquartier, so perhaps see You there?
In June, i return to Tanzquartier to perform Fortune Telling For Our Times, a performance for one guest at a time, that will make a prediction about the guest’s short- to medium-term future. The prediction will be 100% accurate. However, the reading is cleverly framed as an art piece, so everyone will be able to just relax and enjoy the experience. The performance will be ongoing 2-6pm on June 13 & 14, and will be part of the event Future Playground, curated by the excellent and hilarious Anna Leon.

Family promotion department: i’m very proud to announce that MY MOM, Sara Gothelf Bloom of Brooklyn, New York, who many of You know and love (and to know her is to love her), will be publishing her FIRST NOVEL in December, now available for pre-order on Amazon. Obviously, order it from your local bookshop, not on Amazon (Bezos, etc.), but this is just to let You know, and a little extra traffic obviously can’t hurt.
In the meantime, stay safe, let me know what YOU’RE up to, and i look forward to re-connecting on the other side of the screen soon.
Lots of Love,
David B.
