Dear Friends,
Apologies for spamming You just a month after my last email – trying to keep these to quarterly announcements – but spontaneous times call for spontaneous measures. Nobody seems to be planning anything more than a few weeks in advance at the moment.
A few short items:
Next week, i will be teaching the morning classes for professionals (although i personally wish to invite a broad definition of that term) at Tanzquartier Vienna. I am really excited about returning to this fine institution, & the only thing that would excite me more is if i were physically IN THE SPACE. The good news is, Tanzquartier has currently decided to offer their online morning classes FOR FREE (€€€! $$$! ¥¥¥!) to the dance community in Vienna & elsewhere. So the other good news is that You can join wherever You are. Tuesday April 6 through Friday April 9, 10am to 11:30am daily (Vienna time!). See You there!
This coming Sunday, April 4, at 1pm Berlin time, i will be teaching at my favorite STRETCH Festival (April 1-5 altogether), always a heartwarming experience (online, of course). This time, i will be sharing a workshop on Embodied Fermentation/MicroSomatics, in which we will somatically explore the digestive system in movement, as well as discuss some practical methods for fermenting foods! Delicious & nutritious. There are still places available, so please support the beautiful STRETCH community (& yourself) by signing up for the festival here. Video of me working some sourdough here. (STRETCH is a festival for gay, bi, trans, & queer men* & people who identify somewhere on a gender-fluid male-to-non-binary spectrum). Good gut health so essential for everything, including your immune system!
In May & June, the plan is currently (pending lack of global apocalypse) to work as artistic collaborator/assistant to director/choreographer Christopher Roman at Neuköllner Oper’s world premiere of contemporary composer Diana Sysre’s opera Mexico Aura, with performances at Humboldt Forum Berlin June 25-27 & July 1-4. I’m especially excited to be collaborating with Christopher, as i used to admire him (& the other Forsythe dancers) on stage, as a little dance student back in Frankfurt, ahem, about 20 years ago.
End of February, i showed my new solo Alles Vergängliche at Tanzfabrik Berlin’s Open Spaces series. To those of You who caught it online, congratulations! To anyone who missed it but really wishes they hadn’t, drop me a line & i’ll be happy to share the secret vimeo link. Trailer at Tanzforum Berlin here. Interview by Tanzfabrik during the rehearsal process here.
Sending love & peace around the web,
xxx,
David B.
